Operating an Effective Planned Giving Program
Does your institution have some planned gifts but no formal, proactive program?  Do you have a formal program, but disappointing results? Whether you want to start a new program or inject new life into an existing one, this seminar is for you. You will learn why programs fail to realize their potential, followed by guidance in determining the menu of gifts to offer, positioning them to your constituencies, developing practical policies and procedures, and applying the best marketing practices.

Presenter: Frank Minton

Charitable Lead Trusts: A Golden Opportunity
The average lead trust is worth over $2.5 million.  All lead trusts benefit their charitable beneficiaries starting immediately, not at the end of a donor's long life.  Lead trusts offer wealthy individuals the opportunity to pass assets to heirs at substantial tax savings.  Despite these very attractive characteristics, surprisingly few lead trusts are created each year.  What's more, the currently very low monthly IRS discount rate should make lead trusts especially appealing.

This Webinar will cover the basics of charitable lead trusts, including the characteristics of a typical lead trust prospect, how non-grantor and grantor lead annuity trusts and unitrusts operate, and the tax considerations of each.  The session will conclude with case studies to illustrate classic situations where a lead trust can be an excellent gift planning solution.

Date: July 10, 2008
Presenter: Bill Laskin

Complying with State Regulation of Gift Annuities
Gift annuities have attracted increasing scrutiny from many states over the past 10 years, and the gift annuity regulation landscape remains in flux.  This Webinar will review what the individual states require from issuing charities and offer advice on how your charity can best get into compliance with the states where it issues gift annuities, as well as how to stay in compliance.  This session will also review recent and pending changes in state regulation of gift annuities.
