Featured Topic: Helping Donors Flex Their Deferred Gift Annuity Muscle
In a few months, an innovative and increasingly popular planned giving arrangement – the flexible deferred gift annuity, or “flexible DGA” for short – celebrates its tenth anniversary. This makes now a fitting occasion to review how the technique works and to consider various situations in which a donor might want to establish a flexible DGA.

Quick Tip:
Have You Reviewed Your Disclaimer Lately?
Most Planned Giving Manager (PGM) clients take advantage of PGM's option to place text at the bottom of each chart and graph. The text is completely up to you, but most clients write some form of disclaimer. You can also create a menu of different disclaimers from which to choose, if you wish. Here's how:
- Choose Customize – Disclaimers in the PGM Menu Bar.
- To add a disclaimer, click Add. To edit an existing disclaimer, simply double-click it.
- Choose File – Save Configuration to save your changes.
- To choose a disclaimer when creating presentations, open the Personalization – Icons window.

Help Us Get Feedback on GiftStory from Donors, Too
A few of our clients have helped us get the donor perspective on GiftStory. In each case, they have sent selected donors an e-mail provided by us that links to a sample GiftStory presentation and to an online survey. We are very interested in gathering more donor feedback of this kind. If you would like to help us collect more donor feedback on GiftStory, please e-mail Bill Laskin at bill@pgcalc.com. Thank you!

PG Calc Welcomes A New BatchCalcs Client, Salesian Missions
With the knowledge that existing gift annuity donors represent a great source for additional gifts, Salesian Missions included in their 2007 marketing plan a mailing to current donors to encourage them to make a repeat gift. Salesian wanted each letter to be personalized and to include the annuity rate, tax-free portion of annuity, and charitable deduction each recipient could expect, given the birthdates of the annuitants on their past gift annuities and an assumed gift date.
Just as Salesian was planning their mailing, they learned about PG Calc's new service called BatchCalcs. BatchCalcs gives fundraisers an automated way to make their planned giving mailings more effective by including personalized calculations in each prospect letter or e-mail.
Salesian provided PG Calc with the required donor information to prepare the calculations. They also requested PG Calc's assistance with facilitating the printing and mailing of the letters to over 900 donors. Salesian is now watching the mail for what they expect to be a very positive response.
