Monthly Analysis: Stuck in the Middle
There’s always going to be some minimum funding amount for a charitable remainder trust (CRT). Anything less simply wouldn’t be sufficient. HelpClip: Capital Gain Can Be Reported Over Longer Than an Annuitant's Life Expectancy
When a donor funds a gift annuity with appreciated property and is also the first annuitant, the donor may recognize the reportable capital gain in equal installments over many years. In most cases, "many years" means the life expectancy of the donor or donors. There is, however, one situation where a gift annuity donor may spread the reporting of capital gain over longer than the donor's life expectancy. Planned Giving Manager's Online Help explains it all.

The East Ohio United Methodist Foundation’s Gift Calculator Engages Prospects
The East Ohio United Methodist Foundation (EOUMF) provides planned giving services to more than 800 United Methodist Churches. Because of the breadth of their work, GiftCalcs, PG Calc’s online gift calculator, helps the Foundation to reach prospects with whom they might not otherwise connect.
Brian Sheetz, the Executive Director of EOUMF, says “Having the gift calculator as part of our web site allows me to use general gift illustrations in a seminar at a local church then invite attendees to go online and run their own numbers, comparing one and two life annuities, or using the exact amount they are interested in. We find it keeps them engaged in the gift planning process and allows them to do some of their own research, freeing us to work with other churches.”
The EOUMF owns the Integrated level of GiftCalcs, which incorporates the design and navigation elements of their web site. This integration gives their planned giving web pages the seamless look they want.
