The IRS discount rate has dropped like a stone over the last six months. Last August it was hovering at 6.2%. By this February it had plunged to 4.2% and the March 2008 rate is even lower at 3.6%. Commonly called the "rate of the month," rapid change in the IRS discount rate can play havoc with the deduction patterns that gift planners thought they understood. Just when it appears axiomatic that the deduction for a 5% remainder unitrust is always less than the deduction for a comparable 5% remainder annuity trust, the opposite becomes true. Quick Tip: Custom PGM Suite Default Settings
Planned Giving Manager makes data entry easier by providing a default answer for every question it asks.  You can make your PGM data entry even easier by customizing the default values for any of these questions to fit your practices more closely.

How to Create Custom Startup Defaults

  1. Launch PGM to start a new session, then enter all values just as you wish to see them each time you launch PGM.
  2. Open the File menu in the Menu Bar.
  3. Select Startup Defaults.
  4. Click Save Current Inputs as Custom Startup Defaults.
  5. Click Save.
