GiftWrap Specifications

Meet the Challenge with GiftWrap!

Client machines:
Processor: Pentium II 300MHz or Celeron 333MHZ minimum, Pentium III 700MHz or higher recommended.

Memory: 128MB RAM minimum, 256MB or higher RAM recommended.

Hard disk space: The GiftWrap install program will require 95 MB free, which includes system components that may not need to be updated, so actual disk space used will often be less. For optimal GiftWrap performance allow 15% free hard disk space on client and server machines.

Display resolution: recommend 800 x 600 or higher and not using large fonts.

Internet Explorer: 5.01 or higher.

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC): version 2.6 SP2 or higher

Operating system platforms:
Windows NT 4.0 SP6a (1999) - minimum
Windows 2000 - recommended
Windows XP - recommended

You may want a faster machine with more memory and hard disk space than the minimums listed above depending on operating system, database size, other applications installed on the machine, and other factors.

Databases with more than 500 records should use the recommended specifications and not the minimums.

Crystal Reports:
Clients who wish to use Crystal Reports with GiftWrap should have Crystal Reports 8.5. Versions higher than 8.5 are not compatible with GiftWrap.

Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000)
Microsoft SQL Server 2000
Microsoft SQL Server 7.0

MSDE 2000 with Service Pack 3 is distributed with GiftWrap. It is a scaled down version of SQL Server 2000 suitable for up to 5 users (concurrent workloads). MSDE 2000 can be installed on a local client machine or on a server-class machine. SQL Server requires a server operating system. To upgrade to the SQL Server edition of GiftWrap, please contact PG Calc as additional fees are required. SQL Server 2000 is available from Microsoft through retail channels. SQL Server 7.0 is a prior version that GiftWrap supports for the benefit of clients who may still be using SQL Server 7.0 and have not yet upgraded to SQL Server 2000.
