Michael Pohlmann, Manager of National Campaigns at the ACLU Office of Gift Planning, put our BatchCalcs service to good use. Michael was planning a mailing to all of his current gift annuity donors to encourage them to make a repeat gift by the end of the year. Donors who had already funded a gift annuity during the current year would be excluded, leaving a list of about 300 recipients.
Michael wanted to include the annuity rate each recipient could expect, given the birthdates of the annuitants on their past gift annuities and an assumed gift date. Michael also wanted to insert the amount of a special matching gift if the recipient funded a $10,000 gift annuity. The match equaled 10% of the donor's charitable deduction.
Michael sent PG Calc an Excel file of birthdates and last names exported from his donor database. The next day, we sent him back the same file with a personalized annuity rate and charitable deduction added to the end of each record. “By using PG Calc's service we saved two days of manually calculating the numbers for the letter,” Michael observes.
Most importantly, Michael's mailing generated outstanding results! Michael reports that before the year was out the recipients had made 25 new gifts to the ACLU worth over $200,000. He adds, “I was very satisfied with PG Calc's willingness to work with us. We will definitely use the BatchCalcs service again next year.”
