Craig Wruck is Vice President for University Advancement at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. He has served as Vice President for Advancement at Minnesota State University, Senior Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations at Hazelden Foundation as well as Director of Gift Planning for the University of Minnesota, and Vice President of Development for The Saint Paul Community Foundation. In addition he has worked as Vice President at U.S. Trust Company, National Manager of Charitable and Nonprofit Services for U.S. Bank, and Director of Client Development for Kaspick & Company, a provider of planned giving services to charitable organizations nationwide. His career in development also includes experience at William Mitchell College of Law in Minnesota, and Claremont University Center in California.
Craig is past president of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (formerly National Committee on Planned Giving) and served as chair of the Government Relations Committee from 1998 through 2011. In 1993 he was chair of the Sixth National Conference on Planned Giving.
Craig is the author of Planned Giving in a Nutshell, a practical guide to planned giving for fund raising professionals. A teacher and frequent speaker on charitable giving topics, he was a founding member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the newsletter Planned Giving Today and served on the Editorial Review Committee of the magazine The Journal of Gift Planning. In 2002, Craig was presented with a Distinguished Service Award by the National Committee on Planned Giving in recognition of his work in the field. In 1999 he was recognized with a David M. Donaldson Distinguished Service Award presented by the Planned Giving Group of New England. In 1996 the Association of Fundraising Professionals named him professional fundraiser of the year and the Minnesota Planned Giving Council awarded him a distinguished service award in 2011. Wruck holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Utah.
